Channel i to celebrate 56 years of Bangla cinema

Celebrating 56 years of Bangla cinema (films made in Bangladesh) Channel i is holding a ‘Chalochchitro Mela’ at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on October 2, says a press release. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the channel’s Siddeswari office yesterday. Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director, Channel i and Impress Telefilm Ltd, was present at the conference.

Titled “Channel i Chalochchitro Mela ‘09,” the fair will start from 11:05 am and will continue till 5:30 pm. Throughout the day noted Bangladeshi film directors, actors, and cultural personalities will make appearances at the fair. The first Bangla feature film “Mukh O Mukhosh” (made in the then East Pakistan) was released in 1956.

Channel i will present a lifetime achievement award to veteran actor Anwar Hossain. A special award will also be presented to actor Razzak, for his contribution to the Bangladeshi movie industry.

Sixteen well-decorated stalls, displaying movie related materials will give the visitors a brief idea of the movie industry. A souvenir cataloguing the 56-year long journey will also be unveiled on the occasion.

The event will be aired live on Channel i.
